Hey,
I'm Kathrine and I'm new to this community but not to piercings. I've seen tons be done and have a couple myself. I have an overwhelming obsession with all piercings, and recently decided that being a body piercer is what I was born to do. I'm alittle confused about what it takes to legally become licensed because I've been getting mixed information from everyone. I live in Florida, so if anyone has information about the requirments to become licensed, or just some tips or advice for a serious aspiring body modifier/piercier that'd be great. Thanks!

Hey, I recently went through the same thing. Im from New York and what I did was go on citysearch.com and look up all the piercing and tattoo places, called them and asked about becoming an apprentice. Most places will make you pay or just not pay you at all. It's hard to find a person willing to let you apprentice but don't give up!!! I mean I called exactly 34 places and 3 were willing to interview me and I finally got hired.
Another idea is to go to the people who pierced you before and see if they will hire you. Hope this helps good luck :)

Click on that link. I live in Florida too, and yeah, those are some available courses but thats one of the requirenments you need for a shop to accept you as an apprentice ...
Good luckk.

what you can do (and this is only an option) is go to a tattoo/[piercing school and start out with all the training and junk. that should only take about 4 or 5 days. then do piercings in your spare time and take pictures(or videos) of them to start a portfolio. if a shop sees you know what you are doing and you are pretty good at it they will be more willing to hire you.
this is from my experience. i am making my portfolio now. so that when im 18 i can be a piercer. i never went to school but i know exactly what im doing, how to clean them, the healing times, what jewelry you can/cant use, alot of stuff. but im still gonna go to a school and learn more so i have a background.
