rvrscott - 2008-05-28 08:33:24 New piercing question
So I got my ears lobes dermal punched with a 10 gauge and stretched to 8's. This was done 4 days ago and I have some bad bruising on the backside of my right ear and some discoloration on the the front side as well. The left ear is fine however. Is this normal? Something I should be concered about?
This isn't my first piercing but a new piercer. He was very gentle and the shop is well known here and was suggested by a friend.

even though the piercer was gentle, punching and stretching right afterwards is never a good idea. you should have let the ears fully heal and then start stretching. if the blood flow is disturbed in that area (happens in case of stretching too fast) you should decrease the size with a few millimeters and when it's healed - start over. bruising on the other side occurs when some capillaries are broken, but it usually disappears fast and wouldnt cause you any problems. still, if it's not gone for a few weeks or so, go to the piercer to check it out.
dont worry that you have a problem with one ear and the other's fine. they're not identical, so they usually take different time to heal completely.
i see your message is kind of one month old, but still, i hope my answer might be useful, if not to you, to someone else:)
